First part

He tried to catch the sight of his client’s eyes, but they seemed to be staring into empty space far far away.
- Water! Bring some water - ordered the lawyer one of the guards.
When received, he doused his client with half of the glass. He responded in a look of bafflement and surprise. The whole situation was deplorable, but the lawyer did not show any sign of minding. He stroke his long grey hair then leaned forward, reached out and held his client’s palm with both hands. Couldn’t help noticing that if he does this to most of the witnesses he comes through, their hands start to sweat and are warm. His client’s was cold and weak. He looked at him with a stare just as cold as his hand was. The man was sitting up now; but pale and even despite the strong make up – extraordinary white. The striking paleness of his face was furthermore emphasized by his matted hair, black as crow. But the spark was missing from his warm brown eyes - his face expression was completly empty. And he was thin as a lath. Worringly underweight. The lawyer would have guessed his client was not more than 47kgs. Zombilike. But at least he was no longer shaking as when leaving the courtroom. The lawyer tried to brush off his thought that he might even not have enough energy to shake his body.
- You know what date today is?
- 13rd June, 2005 - answered his client in a hallow voice –Did I pass the exam? - he added.
The lawyer hesitated for a moment before continuing the conversation.
- The bail is lifted. - He started to talk business - But we can only start progressing with your passport only tomorrow. If they don’t fuss about it, it will be matter of couple of days only. Getting your seized stuff back will take a while, but we will work on that with Susan , once you are resting somewhere more peaceful.
- Your business. I just wanna get away from here as soon as I can.
The lawyer was taken aback on this quick and rational response. Under the circumstances, he wasn’t expecting him to listen or to understand what was being said.. His client, as if he had miraclously recorvered, quickly reached for the remote and turned the telly on.
- You sure, this what you need to do right now? - asked the lawyer.
- I am not an idiot, just exhasted! - he said snappily, but held his anger back immediately. -This is my bread, for heaven’s sake! I need to know do I still have a future?
The set came on to ABC – they were talking about him, of course. Just like on any other channel - as anyone in the room have thought so. „He showed no feelings” announced a reporter. „Just this shock look on his face...” The emptiness has returned to his eyes again.. Don't you judge of my composure/ 'Cause I'm lying to myself The lawyer was getting lost in his thoughts. Yes, his client was acquited of all charges, but the question remained hanging there – to be precise the media did not want to let it go. As long as the money making machine can go on: guilty or innocent. A verdict they have all reached on the first day. The female reporter on the screen was sharing her very agressive views: „It is not against the law to be a freak, but…” – his client has switched off the set.
- Great. A conviction might not have been this bad - he announced.
